Two Modes of Operation

There are two modes of operation:

  • Slide Show mode
  • List Builder mode

The Slide Show mode (shown on the left) is used to load previously created Play Lists and to play them as a slide show. This program ships with two Play Lists and the associated images. The List Builder mode (shown on the right) displays the additional file browsing pane, and is used to browse for images and create new Play Lists. When the program first starts, it is in Slide Show mode.

You can change the dialog mode by using the buttons and menu items indicated by the green arrows.

Slide Show Mode

The groupbox labeled "SlideShow" contains controls used for loading and playing a slide show.
There are matching menu items for the same functions. These functions include:

  • Open Play List button
  • Play and Pause buttons
  • Control to set number of seconds
  • Radio buttons to choose once, loop, or random play

List Builder Mode

The groupbox labeled "Builder" contains buttons used building or modifying a Play List. There are matching menu items for the same functions. From left to right, these buttons are:

  • New Play List
  • Save Play List
  • Save Play List As ...
  • Move file up in list
  • Move file down in list
  • Remove file from list
  • Move file to list

The buttons to move a file up and down in a list are only available if the list is not sorted.

The button "Move file to List" is also visible in the upper right corner of the file browsing pane.

Alternatively, you may open an Explorer window and "drag and drop" image files from this window into the play list control of the Slide Show program.

Image Window

The image window is displayed as fullscreen or preview (the initial state). This is controlled by using the radio buttons in the groupbox labeled "Window". Matching menu items are in the menu labeled "Window".

The images can be displayed to fill the window, or to fit in the window. This is controlled by using the radio buttons in the groupbox labeled "Image". Matching menu items are in the menu labeled "Image".

Available Keys

When the image window (fullscreen or preview) has focus, these keys can be used:

  • Enter key - starts the slide show (play)
  • Escape Key - pauses the slide show
  • Escape Key (again) - brings the dialog window to the front
  • Down Arrow - moves to the next image in the Play List
  • Up Arrow - moves to the previous image in the Play List

Mouse Actions

A right mouse click also displays a popup menu with the following items:

  • Slide Show start and pause
  • Image fullscreen or preview
  • Image Fit in window, or fill window
  • Previous and next image
  • Bring dialog to front

When in preview mode, the image window can be resized and moved.

Mouse double-click has the same behavior as the escape key. The first double-click pauses the slide show, and the second brings the dialog to the front.

Miscellaneous Functions

Lightning List

This is a shortcut method of creating a Play List and saving it. In the file browser pane, use "multiple select" to select several files. Click on the "Lightning List" button to create a new list, and to save it in one step.

Note: You must select multiple files by using the control and shift keys in combination with the mouse in the file browsing pane. This is referred to as "multiple select".
